Biography

Lena Andersson, born April 11, 1955, in Fritsla, Västergötland, is a Swedish singer who rose to fame as a teenager. She was discovered at the age of 15 by Stikkan Anderson after submitting her own songs to a radio show. Her debut album Lena 15 was released in 1971, and she had her breakthrough with the hit song "Är det konstigt att man längtar bort nån gång" ("Is It Strange to Long for Something Else Sometimes"). During the 1970s, she enjoyed several successes, participated twice in Melodifestivalen (in 1972 and 1977), and collaborated with artists such as Ted Gärdestad and members of ABBA. She also performed internationally, including in Japan, where she won the Tokyo Music Festival in 1972. In the 1980s, her musical activity declined, and after a religious conversion in 1985, her life took a new direction. She became active in Christian music, singing gospel and worship songs. In 2001, she married American producer Tobe Hubbard and moved to Arizona, USA. There, she continues to perform in church settings and occasionally releases new music, including the single "Straight Line" in 2015.
