Under All Means Necessary

2006

Dineo Bopape takes us into a space and then proceeds to deconstruct it before our eyes. She explodes it into its component parts. First, tears appear - linear shreds caused by her hair, which she shakes into a whip - and then a razor-sharp frenzy. The tears in turn dissolve into dots and then into pixels and finally into atoms flying in and out of focus. This, one suspects, is what retina must feel like when it becomes unstuck (Dominique Malaquais, SPARCK).
